Initial Set-up of GPS on Smartphone

I am new to this forum. I am interested in setting up GPS on my phone (Palm Treo 700wx). I understand that I will need to purchase a 'GPS Receiver' as a minimum. I wish to use Topographic maps. My questions is: If I purchase the 'Topo50 Standard Edition' software from Memory Map; will this software, along with a GPS Receiver be all that I require to get up and running?
